How Does Weakness Break Work in Honkai: Star Rail? Full Guide
Every enemy has a Toughness (white) bar. Attacks matching the enemy's weakness type drain it faster. When it hits zero, the enemy is Broken: they take more damage and suffer that element's Break effect (Implosion, Burn, Frozen, Shock, Wind Shear, Entanglement, or Imprisonment). Breaking is the core damage and control tool.
Toughness and Breaking
Attacks chip the Toughness bar; hits matching the enemy's weakness type drain it much faster. When Toughness reaches zero the enemy is Broken for a few turns — taking increased damage and suffering a Break effect.
Break Effects by Element
Physical = Implosion (delay + DoT). Fire = Burn (DoT). Ice = Frozen (delay + increased CRIT taken). Lightning = Shock (DoT). Wind = Wind Shear (stacking DoT). Quantum = Entanglement (delay + increased DMG taken). Imaginary = Imprisonment (delay + slow).
Why Breaking Matters
Broken enemies deal less and take more damage, so you time your carry's biggest hits during the Broken window. Control types (Welt/Imaginary) use Imprisonment to keep bosses delayed, buying free damage turns.
